I almost can’t comprehend how much I have fallen in love with this show. It has been such an honor to be a small part of this Dodgers production as Male Swing One covering Frankie, Joey, Barry, and Hank. Swinging is a new experience for me and I wouldn’t trade it for the world.

A couple of times in ones life, you have an idea and then everything falls right into place to make it happen. My senior recital was this for me. It featured three sections, a character study of Frankie Valli from Jersey Boys, a composer study of select works by Frank Wildhorn, and a cabaret section with music handpicked by me. The show overall was inspired by an episode of Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood, where my cast and I questioned what made our chosen field of artistic expression fulfilling. In the end, we decided that it wasn’t the performing itself, but the people we got to meet and spend our time on stage with that made this life so damn sweet.

This was such a beautiful opportunity to help tell a story that is so much bigger than myself and also a testament to the incredible work they are doing at Street Theater Company in Nashville, Tennessee. In my opinion, they are doing some of the most groundbreaking and authentic art currently happening in the southeast.

What made this opportunity so special for me was performing at a local theater that I grew up watching performances in. In that audience, I cultivated a love for theater that would last a lifetime. Maybe I was able to plant seeds in a bright eyed kid with similar dreams? Who knows? But that is what this is all about.
